Choose by tooth and bite: solid zirconia for strength, 9-layer zirconia for a natural shade gradient, and porcelain over zirconia when the case needs more esthetics.
Full-contour (monolithic) 3Y zirconia, milled in house from our Elegance Zirconia discs. Our strongest zirconia, for posterior crowns and bridges with long spans.

5Y multilayer zirconia whose shade and translucency shift from cervical to incisal, like natural enamel. There is no porcelain layer, so nothing to chip.

We mill zirconia in house from our own Elegance Zirconia discs: solid zirconia (3Y) for posterior crowns, bridges and heavy bites, and 9-layer zirconia (5Y) for natural shade and translucency gradients. If your Rx names a specific zirconia, we follow it. Turnaround is from 5 business days; rush is decided case by case.
Our drivers pick up and deliver cases free every business day in all five boroughs and 13 counties of northern New Jersey (Pickup and Delivery). Practices elsewhere can print a free UPS label.
We accept STL and PLY scans from all major intraoral scanners, with direct connections to 3Shape TRIOS, iTero, Dentsply Sirona, Medit, Carestream, Planmeca, DEXIS, Alliedstar, Shining 3D, ORI and Panda. Common Questions About Zirconia Restorations
How strong are zirconia crowns and when should they be used?
Solid 3Y zirconia is the strongest material we mill for crowns: use it for molars, bridges with up to two pontics, bruxism and heavy bites, or when there is little occlusal room. 9-layer 5Y zirconia trades some strength for translucency and suits anterior and premolar crowns and bridges up to three units.
Which zirconia do you use?
We mill our own Elegance Zirconia discs in house: solid zirconia (3Y) for strength in posterior crowns, bridges and bruxism cases, and 9-layer zirconia (5Y) for natural shade and translucency gradients. If your Rx names a specific zirconia, we follow it.
What do you make if the Rx doesn't name a zirconia?
Solid zirconia for posterior teeth and zirconia with porcelain for anterior teeth. By default we polish the contacts and glaze; a crown adjusted at try-in is re-glazed unless the Rx says otherwise. We sandblast the inside of every zirconia crown before it ships.
Do you make zirconia veneers and endocrowns?
Yes. We make zirconia veneers and zirconia endocrowns. We also press veneers in IPS e.max, and inlays and onlays are made in IPS e.max.
What if my Rx leaves something out?
We keep a record of your standing preferences, so you don't repeat them on every Rx. If an Rx leaves something out, we follow that record and our defaults rather than hold the case; contacts are tight by default.
Do you accept digital impressions for zirconia cases?
Yes. We accept STL and PLY files from all major intraoral scanners; Submit Digital Case shows how to connect yours. Physical impressions and models work too: we pour and scan them in our lab.
Can zirconia be used for implant and multi-unit restorations?
Yes. We make screw-retained and cement-retained zirconia crowns and bridges on implants, custom abutments and full-arch zirconia, with libraries for all major implant systems. Implant crowns take longer than 5 business days. See Implants.
How do you ensure esthetics and shade matching?
We work in VITA classical and bleach shades, with custom staining and characterization on request. For anterior crowns, send the stump shade; shade photos by email and spectrophotometer data help too. Your patient can also come to our Brooklyn lab for a shade match.
